CHARLOTTE, N.C. (theACC.com) – The Atlantic Coast Conference begins a three-day stretch of ACC football on Thursday, Oct. 17, with Boston College traveling to Blacksburg, Virginia, for a 7 p.m. ET They will play Virginia Tech at 1:30 p.m. ESPN College Football Thursdays in prime time.
Virginia Tech will celebrate 30 years of Thursday Night Football with this week’s game against Boston College. The Hokies’ first Thursday night game was against West Virginia on September 22, 1994, a 34-6 win over the Mountaineers in their first appearance.
The contest marks the seventh time the Virginia Tech and Boston College programs have met Thursday, tying the total for the Hokies and Georgia Tech. The Hokies and Eagles have split the past six Thursday night meetings, with each team winning three times.

Virginia Tech leads the series 21-11 and has won two straight against Boston College. The Hokies lead the ACC this season and rank 10th nationally in red zone defense, holding opponents to points on just 69.2 percent of their red zone trips. Hokies running back Beishul Tuten leads the ACC in rushing touchdowns with nine and ranks 10th nationally. Tuten ranks second in the ACC with 605 rushing yards, averaging 100.8 rushing yards per game. The senior has 707 all-purpose yards and 10 touchdowns through six games this season, and has scored at least one touchdown in eight straight games dating back to last season.
Like Virginia Tech, Boston University also concluded its open week last week. The Eagles boast the No. 1 scoring defense in the ACC, allowing just 17.2 points per game this season, which ranks 20th nationally. Boston College’s Donovan Ezeilak leads the conference and ranks second in the FBS with an average of 1.50 sacks and 1.9 tackles for loss per game. Quarterback Thomas Castellanos has scored multiple touchdowns in four of the five games he has played this season, including a career-high four against Duquesne on Sept. 7. are. Castellanos has thrown 12 touchdown passes this season and is rushing for one score. He scored 15 touchdowns on the ground last year and rushed for 13 points.
Thursday night’s kickoff on ESPN will be the first of three ESPN College Football Thursday Night Primetime games this season for the ACC, with Syracuse traveling to Pitt (Thursday, Oct. 24) and Georgia Tech will face North Carolina State (Thursday, Nov. 21). On ESPN.
