Federal Reserve Chairman Kevin Warsh testified Wednesday before the Senate Banking Committee and faced questions about how the economy and various factors affect interest rates.
Warsh spoke to the House Financial Services Committee on Tuesday as part of the central bank governor’s required appearance on Capitol Hill. In his remarks, he offered few clues about the direction of monetary policy but reaffirmed the Fed’s commitment to fighting inflation.
Lawmakers tried to coax Mr. Warsh into commenting on fiscal and political issues, but he largely avoided the topic, emphasizing the importance of the Fed remaining focused on its responsibilities.
