Boston, MA, May 9, 2025 – Students will significantly improve their university and career preparation by taking part in AdvancedPlacement® and career preparation courses. This fall semester, students enrolled in VHS Learning Academy, a full-time online private high school, can explore their career paths by developing university-level learning skills, acquiring important work skills, and delving into the over 250 courses offered. The school is currently accepting applications for the fall semester of 2025.
Previously known as Mayflower Academy, Massachusetts, VHS Learning is an accredited online high school powered by VHS Learning, a nonprofit organization that has been offering high quality online courses since 1996.
The AP® African American Study examines the diverse social, political and cultural experiences of Afro-birth people in the Americas. The four units of the course cover a period of 3,000 years and include the origins of the African diaspora. Freedom, enslavement, resistance. Practice of freedom; and movement and discussion. Participating students develop data analytics skills when engaged in primary and secondary source materials. Students must also complete a summer assignment, which consists of reviewing prerequisite content and important concepts before starting the course. Additionally, course participants will need to complete individual projects that require an analysis of four related sources for the selected topic.
Students who film fashion design explore careers and opportunities for entrepreneurs in the fashion industry, sustainable fashion, and ways to welcome people with disabilities. Students will acquire technical knowledge such as various hand stitching and tools and fabrics suitable for a variety of projects. They also learn how to communicate assertively and actively present their skills, talent and interests.
Hospitality and Tourism: Students travelling around the world will explore a wide range of businesses in hospitality and tourism industries, and explore the impact of tourism on local, national and global levels. Course participants will also discover what is involved in tourist sales, creating leisure and travel marketing, finding trends and planning.
