Klamath Falls, Ore. – The Carroll University women’s soccer team suffered a 1-0 loss to Oregon Tech in a conference matchup on Saturday at OIT Soccer Fields.
Oregon Tech’s Karlie Moss scored the only goal of the game on a penalty kick in the 17th minute, giving the Owls an early lead that proved decisive.
Fighting Saints goaltender Maria Ackerman (Billings, Mont./SO) made several important saves and finished with four stops, while Carroll had four shots, including two on target. Despite this, he was unable to get the net moving.
The Saints’ defense was under constant pressure, allowing 10 shots and five shots on target from the Owls.
Oregon Tech’s defense was solid, with goaltender Sidney Nakamura stopping two of Carroll’s shots on goal and recording a shutout victory.
The loss drops Carroll to 7-4-4 overall and 4-3-2 in conference play, while Oregon Tech improves to 10-4-1 and 6-3 in league play.
The Saints remain in postseason contention and will look to bounce back in their next game.
