There’s reason to be thankful that Keller Williams pulled California-based Sea Group away from Compass this week.
Keller Williams said in a statement to Inman that Sea Group and its founder Lena Sea have chosen to partner with KW Thrive, which has offices in Cupertino, California. The statement added that the team has completed $114.6 million in transactions through 50 transactions so far this year. Last year’s sales were $88.8 million. “Keller Williams’ commitment to innovation, collaboration, and improving the industry aligns well with our team,” Shi added in a statement.
“We are excited to join Keller Williams, where we will be able to work on training and coaching to further expand our team, especially as we grow into the luxury market,” said Shih. continued.
The team’s website lists nine members, including Shee, a buyer agent, and seven others in management, support and marketing roles. According to Shea’s profile on the website, she has worked in the real estate industry for 15 years and sold more than 520 homes during her career.
The team’s move to Keller Williams comes amid intense competition for top agents. Thanks to high interest rates and weak markets in recent years, battles over headcount have gradually evolved into battles over proven talent.
This trend is especially evident at companies like Compass, but even companies like eXp, which previously focused on improving ranks, have since pivoted to recruiting successful teams.
Meanwhile, Keller Williams congratulated Shi on his arrival, and KW Thrive’s head of operations Eric Bradley said in a statement that he was “thrilled to partner” with the team.
“Her exceptional standards and unparalleled customer service set her apart, and she consistently excels as a business owner,” Bradley added. “We are excited to work closely with her to expand her team and support her as she enters new markets.”
