New York-based agent John Lawrence has rejoined Douglas Elliman after spending about three years at the Compass.
Lawrence returns his 19-man team, Lawrence’s team, back to Elliman with him. The team will be based in Eliman’s flagship office at 575 Madison Avenue, but also exist in Long Island City and New Jersey.

Lawrence began his real estate career in 1988 at the now-deprecated CIT, focusing on a rental-to-cooperative conversion project. He gradually climbed the ladder to land at Bermark, where he led the company’s biggest office and attracted the attention of Dotty Herman, former CEO of Douglas Elliman’s brokerage.
Herman recruited him to join Douglas Elliman in 2006, where he stayed until he joined Compass in the second half of 2021. Lawrence remained in the compass until December.
