Introduce yourself in three words or phrases.
Sociable, visionary, and thoughtful.
What do you like most about your job?
What excites me most is that AI is about to transform education and create positive changes in the way learning is delivered. I’ve been passionate about this for several years now, and it’s really fulfilling to see the tangible impact we have on both students and educators. Being part of a forward-thinking team driving meaningful change like this is what motivates me every day.
Best business trip/worst business trip?
Interestingly, my best business trip and my worst business trip also happened to be the same experience. Our family was planning to go to a reunion, but our flight was delayed because the plane lost a wheel in France. We ended up being stranded for four days, which was a real nightmare for my parents. However, the airline took us to a wonderful hotel and the experience became an adventure for us kids who had never stayed in such a place before. Even though it was a mess, I had the best time of my life with all my cousins.
If you could learn any language quickly, which would you choose and why?
Mandarin, definitely. I lived in China for seven years, and while I learned the culture and phrases, I didn’t fully understand the language itself. Immersing yourself in your favorite country and communicating fluently with its people can be incredibly rewarding.
What makes you wake up in the morning?
I am grateful for the amazing people I work with, their enthusiasm for what we are building together, and their drive to change education for the better. I also love the idea that each day brings new challenges and learning opportunities. At the end of the day, what excites me every morning is the opportunity to create AI-powered learning tools that will reshape education globally.
Oh, and my kids too!
What champion/cheerleader should we all follow and why?
Sir Ken Robinson is a long-time hero of mine. His ideas about creativity in education completely revolutionized the field and reminded us that learning is not a one-size-fits-all experience. Besides Sir Ken, people like Sal Khan of Khan Academy have been incredibly inspirational in making education more accessible around the world. I think so.
Best international education conferences and why?
The recent PIEoneer Awards stand out to me for several reasons. Winning ‘Highly Commendable’ for Innovation of the Year was clearly a highlight, but the overall atmosphere of being in a room full of passionate, like-minded professionals was… It was exciting.
Worst conference food and drink experience?
I won’t mention the name because it’s embarrassing, but I once attended a conference where the lunch consisted of only appetizers. Suffice it to say, they weren’t very plentiful and by mid-afternoon, most of us were hungry.
Do you have any books or podcasts you would recommend for others in this field?
I am always learning and staying up to date on AI and education. For anyone interested in EdTech development, I highly recommend The EdSurge Podcast and EdTech Insiders. As an AI enthusiast, I also love “AI and the Future of Education.” This is a must-read book that takes a deep dive into how AI will shape the industry in the future. And Dan Fitzpatrick and Al Kingsley’s newsletter to stay on top of EdTech trends.
Describe a project or initiative you are currently working on that excites you.
KEATH.ai is my passion project. This is the perfect marriage of AI and education, and we see every day how AI is improving the lives of both educators and students. We’re creating a platform that not only streamlines grading, but also provides highly personalized feedback, freeing up teachers to focus their precious time on student engagement. The impact we are having is huge and I am proud to be a part of that journey.
