DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. — Daytona Beach business owners say preparations before Hurricane Milton helped clean up floodwaters.
Beach Street is one of the areas that has flooded several times in the past.
After a couple of local floods, the water has now receded and Glenna Doyle reopened her doors on Tuesday.
Although there was significant flooding in the area, only 4 inches of water flooded this salon. The owners give credit to Sluice.

The flooding caused some damage to floors and electrical equipment, but for the most part, salons and other businesses on the Strip were able to operate better than before.
They’ve seen it all on Beach Street, from waist-deep Ian and Nicole to after a quick afternoon thunderstorm.
Whenever the area is expected to flood, owners get anxious and do their best to prepare. They close their businesses, wait for the waters to recede, and often have to rebuild.
That’s why some owners are asking what they can do to make these rainwater systems more durable.
The Halifax River overflows its banks, literally pushing water up the drain.
