BAE Systems has signed a team agreement with Norway’s Kongsberg to introduce Integrated Combat Solutions (ICS) to the U.S. military.
ICS is designed to significantly improve battlefield situational awareness of combat vehicles, thereby increasing the survivability of soldiers on board.
This allows crews to share targeting information, signaling orders, and surrounding video streams to streamline threat response and decision-making.
“The ability for militaries to quickly pass targeting information to other platforms across the battlefield and engage targets remotely is critical to the mission,” said Andy Collier, vice president of Combat Mission Systems at BAE. .
ICS was developed by Kongsberg and integrated into combat vehicles by BAE Systems.
potential platform
BAE says ICS can be used on a variety of armored vehicles operated by the U.S. Army and U.S. Marine Corps.
Featuring an open systems architecture, the tool is compatible with any battlefield platform with weapon systems and onboard sensors.
ICS has previously been demonstrated on amphibious combat vehicles and multipurpose armored vehicles.
Once integrated, this technology will reportedly help combatants cope with the rapid pace of future warfare, help them stay conscious during combat, and make them safer.
“Together, we will deliver ICS as a core enabler of modern warfare, providing full-spectrum visibility, command and control,” explained Kjetil Reiten Myhra, vice president of defense systems at Kongsberg. .
“This force multiplier streamlines complex threat responses, network mobility platforms, and other assets to improve warfighting capabilities.”
