Maggie Holcomb, Tech’s Got Talent 2024 Champion
Arkansas Tech University student Maggie Holcomb has a talent for music, but she’s always been comfortable sharing it with others.
“I usually stay away from things like public speaking and crowds,” Holcomb said.
Throughout her time at ATU, her roommates and friends encouraged her to audition for the Tech’s Got Talent competition.
This year, as a senior, she decided to give it a try.
“If you do something really scary, sometimes it pays off,” Holcomb says.
The Bixby, Oklahoma, native won the Tech’s Got Talent 2024 competition on Thursday, October 10th at Witherspoon Auditorium.
Holcomb earned this title for his performance of an original song titled “Central Park.” She sang and played the piano.
“I grew up taking music lessons until I was about 11 or 12 years old, and I also did recitals at the same time, but this is the first time I’ve performed in front of an audience like this since then. ” Holcomb said.
Holcomb, who majored in biomedical sciences, won the first place prize of $600. Second place and $300 went to a band called Seismic Waves, and third place and $150 went to Essynce Norwood.
Additional finalists included Kenley Garner, Lou Recinos, The Band Langston, Hope Skinner, and Jamie Walsh.
