ANSON, Texas (KVII) — A Texas school janitor is accused of using artificial intelligence to create child pornography using real student faces.
Darryl Martin Gonzalez, 55, was arrested and charged last week with one count of possession and attempted possession of child pornography, and one count of possession and attempted possession of indecent visual representations of children.
Gonzalez, who worked as a janitor at Anson ISD near Abilene, worked as a school sports and cheerleading photographer, taking pictures of middle school and high school students for free, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office.
Prosecutors say the suspect used AI to superimpose the faces of prepubescent students onto those of adults in sexually explicit videos. Gonzalez also allegedly pasted AI-generated nudes onto the girls’ faces.
Police recovered at least six videos and three photos that had been altered using AI.

“Knowing that he had taken them, [photographs] And it really makes me sick to my stomach what he’s doing with them,” the victim said in late August after being informed about the AI images. “I feel disgusting. I know it’s not me, but I feel disgusting and violated and disrespected.”
“I felt disgusted, embarrassed and scared. I was worried that my photo would be posted or sold somewhere,” said another. “I was embarrassed because I didn’t want people to think like this even though I hadn’t done anything.”
“I know there’s nothing we can do about what he did,” the third man said. “I don’t think I did anything wrong. He’s wrong.”
If convicted, Gonzalez faces up to 20 years in federal prison, followed by possible supervised release.
