Hundreds of students come to SIU for Education Day on October 29th
CARBONDALE, Ill. — Southern Illinois University Carbondale will engage more than 300 high school students studying education in interactive activities and sessions during its Education Day celebration on Tuesday, Oct. 29, in the Student Center. I’m planning on having a fulfilling day.
Education Day is one part of the university’s multifaceted response to the ongoing teacher shortage.
Participants from dozens of schools will enjoy a variety of hands-on sessions that are both fun and educational. More than 30 programs cover a wide range of topics, and high school students can choose to participate in three sessions each. Innovative workshops include titles such as “Welcome to the Imagination Lab,” “The Art of Origami Math,” “Sunshine and Superheroes,” “Educational Adventures in Alaska,” and “Have Fun with 4-H.” Masu.
One of the highlights of the day is the resource fair at noon. At the fair, SIU’s more than 20 departments, units, and education-focused organizations will share information and chat with students in an open house style in the International Lounge.
