According to UkrInform, Tetyana Sidasheva, head of the Education and Science Department of the Donetsk Regional Military Department, said that 33 education workers in Donetsk Oblast have been killed by Russian artillery fire since the start of the full-scale war.
Donetsk is under constant shelling from Russian forces, with occupation forces killing civilians and destroying critical infrastructure such as homes, businesses, and energy and gas facilities on an almost daily basis. Donetsk Oblast has the longest front, approximately 300 kilometers long.
“In total, 33 education workers were killed in Donetsk. These were civilians, 16 of whom were employees of educational facilities. In addition, there are currently 123 teachers serving in the Ukrainian military; 17 people have already been killed,” Sidasheva said.
He clarified that these figures do not include casualties in Mariupol and Vornovaka.
Additionally, since the start of the war in 2022, Russian forces have damaged 871 educational institutions in the region. Unfortunately, this statistic continues to increase, Sidasheva said.
Earlier, Ukrainian authorities ordered the forced evacuation of civilians in the area. Many villages close to the front lines have been forced to evacuate children and their families.
