HOLDEL – Two men detained by immigration authorities in California were arrested on suspicion of shoplifting merchandise from stores in a New Jersey township and other locations, police said.
Police said they were called to a Best Buy on Wednesday after two men tried to evade anti-theft devices on products and set off alarms on laptops and cellphones.
Officers spotted the suspects fleeing in a car and took them into custody. Police say the investigation turned up stolen items from stores locally and around the state.
