“In an era when AI can feel impersonal, authentic leaders can bring their teams together, share concerns, and collaboratively explore how AI can enhance its value rather than detract from it.” It creates an intimate space,” Strain added. This human-centered approach transforms AI from a threat to an opportunity for growth and innovation. If your team sees your sincerity, your true passion for your work, you’re more likely to handle this situation. They will work harder, think more creatively, and come together to overcome the challenges ahead. AI supports decision-making, and true leadership motivates teams to execute those decisions with energy and dedication.
4. Maintain ethical leadership
Ethical leadership has always been important, but it has become even more important in the AI era. Concerns about bias, data privacy, and the ethical use of technology require leaders to be more vigilant than ever. “Authentic leaders practice transparency across the board, and AI data decision models are no exception,” says Herzog. “Explaining how decisions were made, for example why a job applicant wasn’t selected, helps build trust.”
Leading with integrity will ensure that AI and other technologies are used responsibly and fairly. Authentic leaders understand that it’s not about what technology can do, but what it should do. In the long term, ethical leadership is more than just a moral imperative; it becomes a competitive advantage that builds sustainable and trustworthy brands.
