WILMINGTON, N.C. (WECT) – Families across the county are gearing up for Halloween, and many are already making trick-or-treating plans.
U.S. Cellular’s Jessica Holt spoke to WECT about the technology parents and guardians can use to keep their children safe and entertained as they go door to door.
“There’s an app you should download tonight, so please download Nextdoor early. I was actually just looking at it earlier, and there was a place that was giving out candy and all these amazing decorations. We can map out where you are so you can make the most of your time tomorrow night,” Holt said.
Children with smartphones can easily share their location with others. However, for kids who don’t have a cell phone, devices like AirTags can be very helpful.
“And maybe your kids don’t have cell phones, so it’s also great to have air tags or something like that that you can hook to their costumes. That way, We can know where our kids are,” Holt explained.
Holt also suggests taking a photo of the child in costume. That way, if you get separated, you can show the photo to others and don’t have to rely on your ability to describe the costume.
