FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) — Whether it’s baked into a fedora or an upcycled jean jacket, Sabrina Montano’s artistic eye is evident in each item in her line. Masu.
Fresno Pacific University graduates can use a soldering iron to create unique freehand designs to make a statement.
“I just imagine what I want the piece to look like,” she said.
Kindled Collective debuted in September of this year. Featuring Sabrina’s signature flare, the line quickly built a following.
In addition to pop-ups where you can purchase Sabrina’s work, the Valley native offers hat-burning opportunities at private parties and workshops.
Start by choosing a hat and ribbon,
“There’s a lot of things you can do in class, and of course I’ll help,” Montano said.
Artists of all skill levels are welcome to participate. If freehand isn’t your thing, you can use a stencil.
“This is a learning process for everyone,” Montano said. “You go home wearing a very creative hat that you made yourself.”
Sabrina added that the response to the workshops has been great and it’s very rewarding to see people wearing her creations on the street.
“People get really excited about the hat itself,” she said. “They want to wear it and they want to show it off. That’s the best compliment I get through this business.”
Kindled Collective will hold its next hat-burning workshop in Kunisama in northeast Fresno.
