Everyone knows the problem of food surplus. It shows that a third of the world’s food production is wasted, while more than 6 million people in Spain alone suffer from some form of food poverty. Based on these data, ORECA Circular Economy was launched in 2019. The company is dedicated to helping the food industry reduce and donate surplus food in a simple, safe and cost-effective way. Their mission is to eliminate food waste by maximizing surplus and feeding those who need it most.
ORECA is structured as a monthly subscription platform that provides surplus return and donation services. Customers schedule their surplus food daily in the app, and a network of drivers securely re-delivers it to authorized recipients. In this way, technology provides data to make reduction decisions, generate tax savings, and perform social and environmental impact reporting.
The company is primarily active in the community sector. Surplus food is collected daily in large canteens such as businesses, hospitals and educational centers, but also in the field of large events. We currently operate nationwide, but our clients are major international companies.
