EFFINGHAM, IL – (EFFINGHAM RADIO) – Regional Office of Education (ROE) #3 has been recognized by the National Association for Alternative Education (NAEA) for its successful implementation of exemplary practices in alternative education. This evaluation recognizes ROE #3’s three-year dedication with NAEA to adopt and implement innovative strategies aimed at improving outcomes for students facing challenges in traditional school settings. This follows a great deal of cooperation.
NAEA’s exemplary practices are based on extensive research and the collective wisdom of educators in the alternative education field. These are designed to support students who are experiencing academic decline, learning disabilities, behavioral or emotional problems, or who are at high risk of being expelled, suspended or expelled from school. By offering non-traditional educational methods and individualized instruction, alternative education provides an important safety net to help these students succeed.
Throughout the three-year process, ROE #3 worked closely with NAEA to align its programs with NAEA’s 15 Exemplary Practices. These practices include core principles such as promoting individualized instruction, creating a safe and supportive learning environment, and fostering student engagement and success through innovative educational approaches.
“This recognition is a testament to our commitment to ensuring all students have the opportunity to succeed, no matter the obstacles they face,” said ROE #3 Regional Superintendent Julie Wallerman. said. “We are proud of the work we have done in collaboration with NAEA to transform the educational experience for our students and help them reach their full potential.”
NAEA’s exemplary practices represent the national standard for the quality of alternative education programs. These highlight key indicators of success, including a strong commitment to student support, fostering positive student-teacher relationships, and implementing a rigorous academic program tailored to students’ individual needs.
