Delaware State Police arrested Steven Maute Jr., 31, of Smyrna, Delaware, following a robbery at a Townsend store in early October.
On October 9, 2024, at approximately 8:30 a.m., officers responded to WDI Wright Designs, located at 4714 Dupont Parkway in Townsend, for a report of a robbery. Investigation revealed that an unidentified suspect wearing a face mask was heading to the business in a parallel utility vehicle (UTV). After unsuccessfully attempting to enter storage containers, trucks, and trailers on the property, the suspects cut a cable lock to gain access to the storage unit, stole copper scrap from inside, destroyed a chain-link fence, and fled the property. did. Through investigative methods, detectives identified Steven Maute, Jr. as a suspect in the robbery and obtained a warrant for his arrest. On October 17, 2024, Mr. Maute was taken into custody without incident by Smyrna Police Department detectives near his home.
He was transported to the Smyrna Police Department, where he was charged with the following crimes, arraigned by a Second Justice of the Peace Court, and committed to the Sussex Correctional Facility on a $9,000 secured bond.
