HOUGHTON, MI – The Michigan Tech football team will travel to Davenport on Friday at 2 p.m. and Ferris State University on Sunday at 1 p.m. to begin their second meeting against GLIAC opponents on the road.

About the Panthers
Davenport enters the midway point of the GLIAC season with a 4-3-4 and 2-2-3 record league-wide. The Panthers had a productive October, starting with a 1-0 victory over the then No. 1 Panthers. Last weekend, Davenport tied Saginaw Valley State 1-1 on Friday and finished the weekend with a 3-1 win over Roosevelt University on Sunday.
Senior forward Hayley Dekevers earned her second GLIAC Offensive Player of the Week award following an undefeated Week 6 run. She scored two of the Panthers’ three goals on a .750 shot-on-goal clip against Roosevelt, increasing her career goals to 24.
As a team, the Panthers are averaging 13.1 shots per game and 1.09 goals per game, allowing 12 goals per game this season.
First-year goalie Elizabeth Walter impressed in her first year as a Panther, posting four shutouts and 40 saves in a 4-3-4. She was named the GLIAC Defensive Player of the Week for Week 5.
About the Bulldogs
Ferris State plays with a 4-1-1 record in the GLIAC, while maintaining a 5-2-3 overall record with two straight wins and third place in the conference standings. The Bulldogs went 2-1 in October, losing to Northern Michigan (3-0) on October 4, before losing to Michigan Tech (2-0) on October 6 and Sunday (October 2). They won consecutive games against Purdue Northwest (2 wins, 1 loss) on Sunday. 13).
Third-year forward Haley Bachman led the team with four goals, and sophomore forward Katherine Welch paced the Bulldogs’ attack with three goals. Welch has two game-winning goals this season and joins senior Brynley Bell with the team-leading four assists.
As a team, Ferris State ranks second in the league in points per game (4) and total points (40).
Defensively, first-year goaltender Morgan Filion started six games and played in seven games for the Bulldogs. She made 25 saves and averaged 1.2 goals per game for a 4-1-1 record, including two shutouts.
About huskies
Midway through league play, Michigan Tech has a record of 4-6 overall and 2-5 in league play. The Huskies suffered a slump in October, losing 2-0 to UP rival Northern Michigan on Friday (Oct. 11), and will be looking to come back from a three-game losing streak.
Michigan Tech is second in the league in corner kicks per game with 5.9 and ranks 42nd nationally. Senior forward Julia Pietila leads the team with 13 points, six goals and one assist. Kielsen Korinek, Grace Heppner and Taylor Noble each had two assists this season, helping Pietila lead the team in two wins.
MTU goalie Bry Burrows has started nine games this season, posting a 4-5 record and making 33 saves on 70 shots. She recorded three shutouts in her first season as a starting pitcher.
One last thing
The Huskies won Game 1 on September 20th, 2-1, and will aim to win the series against Davenport.
