Since my last update just a few hours ago, you’ve all helped me get closer to my ultimate financial goals. Currently at $12,535, we are making progress but still a long way from our original report goal of $45,000. However, the increase in finishing times is welcome. This is because it confirms how much the Naked Capitalism community values this work and wants this site to get even better.

I donated earlier this week, but I also wanted to donate a little time to let this community know how much it means to me. Since I don’t have much time (I have two young children), I’ll try a little more… water-based comparison.
Without naked capitalism, news looks like a tsunami of information. Have you ever been swimming (or surfing) in the ocean and got hit by a wave and washed up on the shore? That’s what it feels like to me. At times like this, not only do I feel centrifugal force in an unwanted direction and I lose my sense of direction, but I also feel like I’ve hit rock bottom many times. You end up covered in sand, seaweed, and trash, gasping for air, somehow feeling stupider than when you entered.
With naked capitalism, it feels like you can dive underwater and figure it out. This allows you to see the flow and the various nooks, crannies, and shadows on the bottom. It gives me air to breathe, light to search, and flippers and underwater jets to move around. It also introduces places where you can look for cute animals.

Thank you for your continued efforts. I think I first learned about this site a long time ago through a guest column Eve wrote for Salon in place of Grenwald while she was away on vacation. If I remember correctly, it was probably in the late 80’s during the acute crisis phase. I can’t think of a more important catalyst for the evolution of my political awareness and intellect during this time. And in these increasingly interesting times, I can’t think of a better place to stay informed and, if possible, stay informed. My contribution is much more modest than I would like given the amount of money I receive from your continued efforts, but unfortunately, New England rents don’t offer much of a fun budget for those of us in the bottom 95% of the income distribution.
