BLUEFIELD, W.Va. (WVVA) – A free class was held tonight at the Bluefield Arts Center to help aspiring entrepreneurs take advantage of the region’s growing “adventure tourism” industry.
The class centered around the “Hatfield and McCoy Effect,” where participants learned from tourism leaders how to leverage the local ATV industry to launch or grow their businesses.
Hatfield-McCoy Trails Executive Director Jeff Lusk said there is a tremendous opportunity for local and out-of-state business owners to promote tourism and economic development in Mercer County.
“Tourism is one of the fastest growing businesses in West Virginia,” Lusk said. “Taxes help support local governments. Entrepreneurs create jobs and create businesses. We think this will have a very positive impact on Mercer County. We think we’ll continue to see growth.” As West Virginia’s tourism industry grows, we believe Mercer County’s tourism industry will grow alongside our trail system.”
This class was organized by the Bluefield Economic Development Authority (BEDA).
