Meta is scheduled to report results after the market closes on Wednesday, and traders at prediction market platform Calsi predict that Instagram’s parent company will highlight its Ray-Ban Meta smart glasses on the conference call and move into the cloud market, but stay away from social media policy discussions.
In the “mention market,” where Calci speculators are asked to trade whether certain words will be used during a phone call or speech during a meta-earnings announcement, traders give a 90% chance that a hyperscaler’s executive will say the word “cloud.”
Bloomberg reported earlier this month that Meta is developing a cloud infrastructure business that would sell access to raw computing power.
Speculators are slightly less confident about whether Mr. Mehta on the call will say Ray-Ban, his smart glasses partner, at 74%. Last month, Meta debuted a new low-cost smart glasses model developed with Essilor Luxottica, Ray-Ban’s parent company.
Traders believe there is a 61% chance that Meta will use the word “silicon” to discuss its chips.
Only 27% of the time, Meta mentions Hyperion, the name of its data center project in rural Louisiana.
Also, don’t expect Meta to discuss social media policy.
Britain is the latest country to ban children from social media, but traders believe there is only a 15% chance that Mehta will mention age verification.
Traders believe there is only a 20% chance that Meta will use the term “prediction market” or “karsi”. Reports in June revealed that Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg had instructed staff to build a prediction market platform, and NPR reported later that month that Meta was at one point in talks to acquire Calci.
