Federal Reserve Chairman Kevin Warsh will speak to the House Financial Services Committee on Tuesday as part of his Congress-mandated biannual monetary policy report.
The central bank president’s appearance came on the same day the Bureau of Labor Statistics reported that consumer prices unexpectedly fell 0.4% in June, allaying some policymakers’ concerns about inflation.
In prepared remarks for his appearance, Mr. Warsh pledged a vigilant fight to return inflation to the Fed’s 2% goal.
“The members of this committee do not tolerate persistently high inflation and share a firm determination to restore price stability,” he said.
