Inman announced Monday that it has formed an advisory board comprised of senior executives across securities, technology, lending and real estate services. This includes the names of some of the biggest companies in the industry.
The Inman Advisory Council is part of the company’s transformation from a real estate news publisher to a broader media, membership and community platform, an initiative CEO Tom Bohn calls “Inman 2.0.”
The company said the initiative will include persona-driven editorial, AI-powered journalism, an evolving Inman Select membership product, and a community infrastructure built for real estate professionals.
“The real estate industry is currently undergoing the most profound reset in a generation,” Vaughn explained in a statement. “As Inman enters its next chapter, we were looking for the smartest operators, innovators and leaders in the industry to help us think about what’s next.”
These businesses include leaders from Zillow, Compass International Holdings, HomeServices of America, eXp Realty, and other companies that make up the Inman Advisory Council.
Inman said the council will help guide the company’s next chapter, with the 16 founding members working directly with Inman’s leadership on editorial, events, membership and community strategy.
The council brings together, among other things, executives from Zillow and Compass, two of the real estate industry’s biggest companies, who are frequent combatants. Also included are leaders such as LPT Realty, Brown Harris Stevens, SoFi, Lone Wolf Technologies, and RealScout.
Born, who took the helm at Inman earlier this year, said his ambition is to build the “Bloomberg of residential real estate,” a vision he laid out in a recent podcast interview that emphasized the integration of trusted data, journalism and AI as pillars of the company’s evolution.
The advisory board is the most visible sign that the strategy is taking shape.
“There’s a lot of noise going on right now,” Michael Valdez, CEO and founding board member of LPT International, said in a statement. “People want reliable, unbiased voices that can provide a roadmap in a chaotic environment.”
The council will hold its first session at Inman Connect San Diego on July 28, the first day of the company’s flagship conference, which runs through July 30 at the Marriott Marquis San Diego Marina with the theme “The Reset Is Here. Build What’s Next.”
The company said the first meeting will focus on what the industry wants most from a media and community platform.
