How do you stay on top of things and keep yourself organized? Many of us have hacks and workarounds that we have developed over the years. It can make it difficult to consider using another tool (after all, you’ve completed your “system”). However, if you’re looking for a game-changing productivity tool you actually need to speed up, Slack is the one you’ll win.

I know, you don’t have time to figure out yet another app or platform, but Slack is intuitive enough to ride it easily. If you are a team leader or a broker’s manager, you will definitely save time and frustration by keeping your agents more organized and communicative. If you are one of these agents, we will ensure that you support CYA by ensuring that you have access to client documents, information and up-to-date contact information at any time.
It helps you learn some of the ins and outs that you can customize and efficiently use in order to make the most of Slack for your real estate. Below are 25 tips to help you get more from this leverage creation tool.
Create a dedicated channel
Create a channel for your real estate listing, buyers, sellers, or development projects.
Example: Create a channel for each property list and share your team with documents, updates, client feedback, and marketing strategies. Individual channels for communicating with clients make all relevant information easily accessible and help you track outreach frequency.
Organize your channels
Create channels for various projects (#Downtown-Condos), teams (#sales-team), or topics (#open-houses).
Example: Use #Client Feedback to plan client comments and #marketing strategies.
Limit channel notifications
To manage notifications and avoid information overload, they are only pinned in channels where input is required or where it needs to be kept up to date.
Example: MUTE# If Random Chat is not essential for your work focus.
Use the mention wisely
Use @mentions to get the attention of certain people without overdoing it.
For example: Use @Sarah to ask Sarah to update the entire channel with a property document or @Channel. I only use @Here if I want everyone in the channel to be careful, but I use this sparingly (just like replying via email).
Pin important messages
Pin important messages to your channel for easy access.
Example: #Pin to quickly refer to weekly meeting agendas in a #Team Meeting.
I’ll use threads
Reply in thread to keep your main channel organized and concentrated.
Example: Start a thread under a list update to discuss the details without messing up the main channel. Respond to your colleagues via related side chat threads.
Please don’t interfere with the set
Do not use during usage periods or during client meetings.
Example: Sets should not be intrusive from 10am to 1pm for uninterrupted client consultations or cold calls.
Integrate apps
Connect tools like Google Drive, Trello, Zoom and more for Seamless Workflow.
Example: Use / Zoom to start a virtual tour meeting directly from Slack.
Use keyboard shortcuts
Master shortcuts such as CTRL+K (or CMD+K in MAC) quickly jump between channels and conversations.
Example: Press Ctrl+K and enter the channel name without using a mouse to switch to the #Property List.
Create a custom emoji
Add custom emojis for quick responses and fun interactions.
Example: CREATE A: Sale: Emojis to celebrate closed transactions and An: Open House: Emoji for Event Reminders.
Use saved items
Save important messages and files for easy access.
Example: Save links to the latest market reports for quick searches during meetings.
Star’s important channels
Keeps the stars frequently used channels and direct messages at the top.
Example: Star#New-Listings and broker DMs are easy to access.
Use reminders
Set a reminder for a task or follow-up.
Example: Enter/remind me to follow up to Smith at 4pm
Create a custom slackbot
Set up Slackbots for automated reminders or useful information.
Example: Create a bot to remind your team about daily huddles.
Efficiently manage your files
Uses Slack file sharing and management features.
Example: Share the latest property brochure in #Marketing-Materials and use the search function to find it later.
Take advantage of search
Use Slack search to quickly find messages and documents.
For example: Enter a document or house number in #Transactions to find a specific file.
Use advanced search filters
Apply a filter such as “from:”, “in:”, or “has:”.
For example: Use from @john to find all messages from John about a particular property.
Customize your profile
Update your profile with your role and contact information.
Example: Add the title as a “real estate agent” and add a professional photo that is easily identifiable. Consider adding specialist niches, certifications and designations as well.
Use status update
Set status updates to indicate availability or current activity.
Example: Set your status to “Show Properties” with House Emojis during real estate tours or open houses.
Use a herd of slacks
Use huddles to have quick, informal chats. A five-minute conversation can save you hours of inputting your messages before and after.
For example: Start Huddle with #Sales-Team for a brief discussion about lead follow-up. Share your screen and walk through agents through new data or market statistics.
Use Slack Connect
Work with external partners and clients through Slack Connect.
Example: Use Slack Connect to communicate with your client’s legal team about transaction details.
Use the Workflow Builder
Automate routine tasks and processes with Workflow Builder.
Example: Create a workflow to automatically welcome new clients to #client onboard or remind agents about regular scheduled meetings, masterminds, or investigation events.
Practice clear communication
Make your message concise, clear and thorough to avoid misunderstandings and make it easier to search later.
Example: “Hey, can you send me that report?” “Hey, please send me a Q2 sales report by 3pm.”
Clean up the channels periodically
Reduce clutter while archive or clean up old channels so you can browse the information you need. (Note: Know your organization’s Slack account settings to ensure that conversations and materials are not automatically deleted after a certain day or months.)
Example: Archive # Once the project is complete, old-projects.
Check and update slack settings periodically
Check your slack settings periodically to match your current workflow.
Example: Update the settings to change internal roles or project focus. If you want to update your settings during a changing market situation or move to a new business-focused area.
