A month after stocking the much-talked-about tiny home that sold out within 24 hours, Amazon has listed a new, more luxurious model for $47,500.
Manufactured by Simple Easy Quick International (SEQ), the 600-square-foot, two-story home features a rooftop deck, glass-enclosed sunroom, and customizable floor plans and finishes. The base model includes one bedroom, bathroom, kitchen, and living room. However, homebuyers can add up to three additional bedrooms.
The manufacturer says the house is fire, wind and earthquake resistant thanks to its alloy and galvanized steel frame.
Although SEQ handles much of the manufacturing and logistics, unless you are planning to go off-grid, homebuyers still need to secure the land, obtain the appropriate permits from the municipality, purchase the foundation, and install the water supply. , electricity and sewerage services must be arranged. lifestyle.
According to Realtor.com’s 2023 Tiny House Guide, permit costs can range widely from a few hundred dollars to a few thousand dollars, depending on zoning guidelines. Electrical and plumbing finishes will cost about $1,300, and a foundation will cost between $5,000 and $8,000, although wheeled foundations are usually the most cost-effective.
Homebuyers may also run into the problem of getting the right insurance for their tiny residence, as they may be required to purchase mobile home insurance or RV insurance depending on whether the home is mobile or not. According to financial education site Investopedia, insurance for RVs and mobile homes is more important than a typical home because homebuyers must insure against potential accidents and damages when transporting the home to a new location. They say it’s more complex and often more expensive than insurance.
However, a growing number of companies specialize in small home insurance and are creating specialized policies to meet the needs of buyers.

Even with additional costs, SEQ’s luxury tiny houses are more affordable than typical single-family homes. The median home price rose 4.7% annually to $406,100 in November, marking the 17th consecutive month of annual price increases, according to the National Association of Realtors’ latest existing home sales report.
Larry Samuel, author of “Homeownership in America,” told Realtor.com about the popularity of tiny houses on Amazon, “Tiny houses have a legitimate claim to be more economical and environmentally friendly than the average home. It has been thought of as such, and it is still thought of as such.” “It literally has a smaller footprint and lower energy requirements, so it appears to be more sustainable than an average-sized home. It’s also affordable, making it a potential solution to the current housing crisis.” It shows.”
Jared Amzallag, co-founder of Minimal Living Concepts, echoed Samuel’s insight, noting that homebuyers are once again becoming more open to manufactured homes thanks to big retailers like Amazon and Home Depot. I did.
“Rising real estate prices and the desire for a flexible lifestyle are driving people towards affordable housing alternatives like tiny homes,” he said. “Additionally, the ease of purchasing a home through an online platform is appealing to those seeking simplicity and quick solutions to their housing needs.”
