You might think this educational article is for people who need to simplify their social media marketing strategy. it’s not. The real lesson I’m going to explain is that people have short attention spans and don’t care about marketing.
How do you get your point across to them? They’re inundated with social media posts, scam emails, and some huge brands are paying billions of dollars to get their attention. Amidst all the noise, how can you reduce your marketing missteps and grab even just a moment’s attention?
Learn 7 simple and smart social media strategies that will help you reach your goals faster and more effectively.
1. Don’t aim for stardom.
Everyone needs to be realistic about their aspirations when it comes to social media. Don’t look at influencers with a million followers and try to model your image after them.
Some agents spend countless hours creating content for just a few hundred followers. That doesn’t make sense. Accept that you’re probably not going to become Instagram famous and that’s not your goal.
You’re trying to build relationships, not become a superstar. Trying to be like others is the greatest way to punish yourself. There has to be a better way – just be yourself.
2. Kiss
You’ve heard it before – keep it simple, idiot. People don’t want to read books anymore and they don’t want to hear about how great you think they are.
If your social media post has a “read more” button, you may have already lost it. Agents spend a lot of time creating unwatched videos, unread posts, and unread content. You may think it’s a great idea, but everyone will disagree with your attention span.
When people are on social media, they’re not trying to remember your business or brand. they really don’t care. Maybe they came to watch a cat video or got lost in the infinite scroll. They are there for themselves, not you. These apps shorten attention spans and make people less sensitive to everything. Don’t assume they are interested in your business.
Stick to the headline description. Make it punchy. Use emojis. Emphasize calls to action. Do not add too much filler. Otherwise, people will leave. This applies to everything from printing emails to phone calls. If someone is quickly scrolling through social media, they won’t see the filler, so don’t waste their time. Time is money, so don’t waste it on bloated content that no one cares about.
3. Focus on your greatest aspects
You may be a multifaceted person, but there’s always one way people will remember you. your face! When it comes to marketing, your biggest asset is yourself, and people know you by your face. Sorry, but you’re in sales, so you need to promote yourself. This is not the time to be shy or think using photos for marketing is cheap.
You have to do it.
Even if your social media scroll is the fastest, people who don’t have time to read will still recognize your face. Our brains are hardwired to see faces. When I see the face of the person I love, I feel happy. Think about it for a moment. Your face is a trademark that cannot be removed. Please use it.
4. Don’t be a secret agent.
So many agents spend their time disguising themselves thinking it’s great marketing. They create a team name and hide their own name. They use logos instead of faces.
They’re very proud of their brand, the logo they got from Fiverr with its clipart roof line and Comic Sans font. In the eyes of marketing professionals, amateurism in agent branding is rampant. But that’s normal in the real estate industry. you know exactly what i mean.
Even if your logo is great, you’re still not Coca-Cola. People look at it and don’t understand what it really means.
If they don’t associate a name with a face, they won’t understand it. Consumers don’t care either, unless it’s your mother. Don’t misrepresent yourself using impersonal branding. However, no matter how proud and big you want to be, you have to face the fact that people expect you to be approachable.
5. Be empathetic
Why can we empathize? Because this is a relationship business. People work with people. And they want to work with people they trust. They usually trust people with whom they can empathize. Don’t be too formal or too professional. Be authentic. Start showing people who you really are. they will love it.
When posting on social media, make it more personal than business. People are there to connect with friends, not to be sold to.
The best way to sell them is to get them to like you. Post about your family, hobbies, interesting things you saw at screenings, etc. Pretend you might die if you see another “just got listed” post. What else can you show them to make them smile? It’s much easier to be authentic than fake on social media. No more overthinking or trying to be someone else. Not only you, but your friends and followers will love this change as well.
6. Make it memorable
The best marketing is memorable. The worst kind is a nuisance. How can you not only get someone’s attention, but also make them think about it for days? That’s the key to everything. You are trying to get referrals, but to get referrals, you must always have a top-of-mind mindset. The surest way to keep them thinking about you for days on end is to make them feel good.
Did you find your dog so cute on Instagram that you couldn’t stop staring at it? Did you share a heartwarming story of how you helped someone? Your impromptu video was so unexpected and funny So you had to watch it three times? Did you actually call them and have a fun conversation like in the 1900s?
Don’t spend too much time rehearsing these things. Be yourself and don’t be shy about moments that should be photographed and shared on social media. Life isn’t perfect and neither are your posts. If you’re not confident in your content, post a story that disappears in 24 hours.
7. Don’t be stupid
You can lose followers faster than you can gain them. Don’t be negative. Don’t complain or complain. People don’t want to hear that. Don’t be such an idiot and talk about politics. Half the country will disagree with you.
It only takes one post for someone to hate you, think you’re stupid, or think you’re unprofessional. Never post if you are in a bad mood.
When we do something stupid on social media, we often don’t hear about how badly everyone takes it. You can silently lose respect and not even know how much damage has been done. You worked too hard to build your reputation.
ULTIMATE BONUS TIP: BE CONSISTENT
Whatever you do, be consistent. Don’t post too often and then disappear. Don’t change templates on the fly depending on your mood. People want to work with experts who are consistent and predictable, rather than those who constantly change their perception of them. It’s easy to be consistent when you’re being yourself. Now, you just show up.
