How can you streamline your onboarding process with the right AI tools?
Erin Rice is an HR expert and HR and operations specialist at Process Street, an AI-powered platform that automates organizational processes and improves efficiency. Even before diving into the world of human resources, her teaching background gave her valuable insight into introducing employees to new work environments. Erin is also the host of the Employee Onboarding Podcast. There, she combines her own expertise with that of other thought leaders to uncover the secrets to onboarding success. Today, she talks about misconceptions about AI platforms, welcoming new employees, and automating workflows.
Do you feel that your teaching background has given you greater insight into employee onboarding, especially when introducing new employees to the work environment?
absolutely! As a school leader, I didn’t have an HR team. When it’s time to onboard a new employee, my team and I work through the onboarding and training process while running the school and making sure our current employees have everything they need to be successful. We have achieved both. As you can imagine, caring for and educating children under the age of five is a daunting task. On top of that, there are so many regulatory and compliance aspects to onboarding in schools that any misstep can compromise your ability to operate, and many parents rely on you to get to work. It will disappear. The looming domino effect motivated me to do the best job I could, and I brought that passion to onboarding employees in the technology industry. The best part about this is that Process Street is a process management platform, so not only does my company benefit from that passion, but this product benefits as well, helping thousands of other businesses. That’s it.
Are there any common misconceptions that are holding organizations back from fully leveraging AI-powered platforms like Process Street to streamline their onboarding processes?
It’s clear that many organizations are worried about losing their jobs to AI, leading to fears of jumping in too soon. I understand that. I had days when I felt the same way, but as I too have used various AI tools, I realized that AI only enhances what humans are already doing. It makes us better, faster, and in some cases smarter. Sure, you can write 20 prompts to get your icebreaker bank ready for an all-hands meeting, but why bother with that when you can use your brain power to solve complex HR problems? Is there a need to waste brain power? With tools like Process Street, it can be daunting to put in the effort to bring all your processes into the platform. That’s why we built Process AI. With Process AI, you can scan SOPs from Google Sheets or Excel documents, or handwritten SOPs from PDF. Process AI can create tasks and use human power to further improve them. Storing all our tasks and processes in Process Street saved us a lot of bandwidth because we didn’t have to remember as much and could rely on automated processes.
What is one of the most memorable discussions you had with a fellow thought leader on the Employee Onboarding Podcast?
My most memorable discussion was the first time I attended as a guest before becoming the host. It was like a conversation between Director of Human Resources and Operations Ashley Chain and I about all the magic infused into internal onboarding. One of the most memorable lessons was the importance of balancing structure and personalization in onboarding. By automating our workflows with Process Street, we were able to create a smoother, more engaging onboarding process that fosters connections from day one. This is a core element of making new employees feel valued and ready to contribute. This structure provides clear expectations and hopefully makes you feel less overwhelmed in the process. We should let machines do what they are good at, and we humans should do what we are good at. That is what it means to be human.

Are there any recent development projects, product launches, or other initiatives our readers should know about?
Process Street recently launched the platform’s flagship feature, Data Sets. Customers can save the data they need and pass that information to workflows and forms. Consider having an employee or company data set that you can reuse to prepopulate values elsewhere. Not only does this keep all your information under one roof (meaning you don’t need third-party tools to store your data), it also greatly improves data accuracy and saves you time. It means that.
This release aligns with our mission to make streamlined processes available to teams of all sizes. We look forward to readers exploring these features and gaining more control over their workflows and forms.
Can you share a standout success story of how a client used Process Street to overcome onboarding challenges?
Answer: Yes! Raw Capital Partners faced extensive onboarding and regulatory compliance challenges, especially in mortgage processing. With Process Street, we reduced onboarding time by 70% through streamlined and standardized workflows, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and efficiency across tasks. This transformation increases employee productivity, minimizes risk, allows operations to scale up without sacrificing quality, and how structured workflows help grow regulated industries. and how they can foster operational excellence.
