Vikings star left tackle Christian Darrisaw will likely have to miss the remainder of the season after injuring his knee Thursday night against the Los Angeles Rams, according to a report Friday.
Darrisaw, who was guarding his starting position at left tackle, was tackled to the ground by Rams safety Jalen McCollough, and Darrisaw fell to the ground in pain. He was cared for by Vikings medical personnel who helped him walk directly to the locker room.
In his absence, the Vikings gave David Quessenberry a choke at left tackle for the remainder of the game. Head coach Kevin O’Connell commented on Darrisaw’s injury after the game.
“Christian Darrisaw injured his left knee,” O’Connell said. “But we will continue that evaluation here tomorrow and try to see what it is. [We’re] We are always on the lookout for positive news. ”
As Adam Schefter reported today, the injury doesn’t look good for Darrisaw, who will likely need surgery on his left knee after the season.

Since being drafted by the Minnesota Vikings from Virginia Tech, Darrisaw has been a cornerstone of the Vikings’ offense.
He received a massive contract extension this offseason worth up to $113 million over four years, including $77 million in guaranteed money.
Darrisaw was the 23rd overall pick in the 2021 NFL Draft. The Vikings exercised the fifth-year option on his contract this offseason and have now extended his contract.
With Darrisaw expected to return next year, the Vikings will be looking to continue to develop around their young tackle and compete in the NFC North.
