BLACKSBURG – Wide receiver Daquan Felton continued to live up to his role as a dynamic playmaker for the Hokies. Felton, a graduate student this season, has shown himself to be an undeniable big-play threat and continues to be a key asset for the Tech offense on game day. Felton transferred from Norfolk State the previous year and took the field for the first time as a Hokie in 2023. The then-senior played in 13 games as a wide receiver, setting team-highs in receptions (38), receiving yards (667) and receiving touchdowns (8), and also led the team in receiving yards per game (51.3). There are several things that make Felton’s games so exciting to watch, but none more so than his ability to make big plays for the Hokies on offense. Through games this fall, Felton had an 89.8 receiver rating on passes between 10 and 19 yards and a 90.5 receiving rating when catching passes in the middle of the field. Of the 14 wide receivers on the Hokies’ football roster, Felton ranks first in both size and height at 6-foot-5 and 216 pounds. Because of his physical attributes, the wide receiver was named to Bruce Feldman’s Freaks List before the season started in Nashville.
The fifth-year wide receiver has a chance to earn individual honors this Saturday against the Yellow Jackets. Felton entered the contest with 848 receiving yards in two seasons as a Hokie and 1,911 yards as a college receiver. If the Portsmouth, Va., native can rack up 89 yards against Georgia Tech’s defense, he will become the eighth Hokie wide receiver in program history to total over 2,000 yards.
