MOUNT VERNON, Wash. — Detectives with the Mount Vernon Police Department are investigating the deaths of two people found inside a store in the 400 block of South 1st Street.
On Friday around 10:02 p.m., police responded to a call about a delinquent person.
Friends and family told police that the 24-year-old man had gone to an appointment earlier that day in the 400 block of South 1st Avenue but never returned.
Police then went to the store and found the man’s car at the scene.
Police said there were other people at the scene asking about a missing 61-year-old woman who also had not returned from an appointment.
Officers searched the building and found a man and a woman dead inside.
Police said both people who died were shot to death.
Detectives are investigating, but say there is no active threat to the public. They do not believe there is a suspect.
