The energy was exciting, the competition was fierce, and the community spirit was as vibrant as ever. Throughout October, Chelsea Educational Foundation (CEF) and Dexter Educational Foundation (EFD) faced off in a friendly and lively fundraising competition known as the “Rivalry Match.” Both foundations rallied the community to raise critical funds for educational grants supporting Chelsea and Dexter students. This thrilling showdown culminated in a grand finale at the Dexter vs. Chelsea football match on October 25th at Chelsea’s Jerry Niehaus Stadium, with both communities on full display of passion and generosity.
And what a great tournament it was! Dexter won on the fundraising front, raising a staggering $25,218, while Chelsea raised an astonishing $21,039. But the excitement didn’t stop there. On the soccer field, Dexter won with 35 points, more than Chelsea’s 6 points. In the end, we all won and we all proved to be educational support winners.
EFD President Nicole Ruesch couldn’t contain her excitement. “I couldn’t be more grateful to our amazing Dexter community and all the supporters who have supported EFD this year. Rival Match continues to get bigger and better, and so many new faces are joining me. I was thrilled to see them participate. Most importantly, the real victory is for the students. Thanks to all of you who contributed, EFD is true for every school across Dexter. A huge thank you to CEF for being a great partner in this effort.”
This collaboration between CEF and EFD was a natural fit, driven by a shared mission to improve the educational experience of students by funding projects beyond the scope of school budgets. Additionally, CEF also provides scholarships to district alumni, helping students take the next step toward their dreams.
Amy Forehand, President of CEF, added: “Our partnership with EFD is truly special. Every year we have so much fun working together, competing and bringing out the best in each other to make this event a success. We are deeply grateful for the outpouring of generosity from Rival Match, which is about more than just competition, it’s about coming together to support our students, and these funds will permanently support educational opportunities at Chelsea. It will have a great impact.”
The success of this year’s Rival Match was fueled by the tremendous support of local businesses who signed on as event sponsors. The lineup of Chelsea supporters includes John Daniels and Donna Daniels, SBK Orthodontics, Trinity Health – Chelsea Hospital, Chelsea State Bank, Esquire Interiors, Hatch Stamping Company and Art Moan Chevrolet Buick. It was included. Dexter’s sponsorship came out strong with support from Chelsea State Bank, SBK Orthodontics, Walkabout Creek, Hackney Hardware, Dexter Orthodontics, Pearl Planning, LaFontaine of Dexter, and Dexter Pub.
Rival Match proves once again that when communities come together, incredible things can happen. Through friendly competition and common commitment, Chelsea and Dexter demonstrated the power of community spirit and created outstanding educational opportunities that will inspire and uplift our students for years to come.
