NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Today, the Tennessee Department of Education (TDOE) announced that the statewide graduation rate for the 2023-24 school year is 92.1 percent, breaking the previous record of 90.6 percent achieved in the 2022-23 school year. announced that it did.

Here are the most notable takeaways from graduation data for the 2023-24 school year. Clay County Schools, McKenzie Special School District, South Carroll Special School District, and West Carroll Special School District each had graduation rates above 99 percent. In 73 school districts, more than 95% of students graduated on time. The 2024 cohort graduated 1,756 more students than last year, for a total of 67,232 students across the state. Seventy-eight school districts improved their graduation rates from 2023 to 2024, with seven districts improving by five or more points. The English Learner student group demonstrated a 12 percentage point increase in graduation rate, from 67% in 2022-23 to 79% in 2023-24. Twenty-three school districts finished the school year with graduation rates of 99 percent or higher for at least one student group: English language learners, Blacks, Hispanics, Native Americans, economically disadvantaged students, and students with disabilities.
To improve academic performance and prepare students for post-secondary success, districts continue to offer additional learning time, innovative college admissions and career exploration, and access to Advanced Placement (AP) courses. We offer summer programming and tutoring support.
