Washington, DC has long been home to influential politicians, business leaders and wealthy individuals. This year is no exception.
Many officials and others close to the Trump administration have already bought the highest-level homes in DC, fueling what is called “Trump Bump” in the luxury market. And they are well equipped to do so: only Trump’s Cabinet had a total net worth of over $14 billion as of 2024.
That wealth has been translated into numerous high-end deals. In December 2024, Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick set a new benchmark with a $25 million purchase of Foxhall Estate, the most expensive home seller in DC history. In 2025, the trend continues as the $10 million home has already changed hands.
These prices are noteworthy, but it is not uncommon for DC luxury homes to sell at the beginning of the new administration. Lobbyists, officials and executives spend a lot of money on their proximity to the Capitol. However, nationwide, Florida and California are home to the very luxurious lion shares.
According to Redfin data, there is the most expensive home sales in the Washington, DC Metro area in 2025 so far.
