Eve is here. Your humble blogger is making an exception to the general rule of not allowing AI content on the site by introducing Thomas Neuburger’s Holiday Sampler, which combines climate change updates with examples of AI deception. The latter is related to today’s post about AI fraud and the growing concern that some videos cannot be authenticated even after undergoing forensic testing.

Climate: We’ll be here soon
For those who want to stay informed, check out Jim Hansen’s climate updates (available here). Please highlight mine below.
Abstract. Global temperatures in 2025 were 0.1 degrees Celsius lower than 2024, the highest year due to the El Niño phenomenon, making 2025 the second-warmest year. The average for 2023-2025 is +1.5°C compared to 1880-1920. The 12-month moving average temperature should decrease over the coming months, reaching a minimum of around +1.4°C. As dynamical models indicate the development of El Niño, 12-month moving average temperatures are expected to start increasing in late 2026. We predict that the global temperature record will be +1.7°C in 2027, which will further confirm the recent acceleration of global warming.
Although no tipping point has been indicated yet, acceleration has been observed. Elsewhere in the same paper, he states that the “acceleration rate” is “0.31°C per decade”. If this rate remains stable (i.e., without further acceleration), we will see the following results over the next few decades:
2035 — +1.81 °C 2045 — +2.12 °C 2055 — +2.43 °C 2065 — +2.84 °C
Please note that this is not model based. It simply takes today’s rate of change, sees where it goes, and assumes there is no further acceleration.
As you read this, ask yourself the following questions:
What would the world be like if it warmed by +3 degrees? Are you living in 2065 or so?
The 10-year-old children in my family will be 50 by then. in the middle of their lives. not good.
(My prediction for similarly accelerated ppm CO2 is here. Hint: 2050 will be over 500 ppm. Oh.)
AI Forever (for a while)
We have not yet reached peak tech (we will, and even elementary school students will see it), so we have not yet seen the peak of AI counterfeiting. But check out this short video (screenshot below). It’s a must-see and is less than a minute long.
When our grandchildren grow up and gather around the fires of 2110, what stories will they tell about our long-gone wonders?
The faces are mostly accurate, and the casual, friendly movements are very human. For example, in the first setting (The Lord of the Rings), the final movement of the red-bearded Gimli is very natural, as is Harrison Ford’s smile in the Indiana Jones setting. Karen Allen’s face, like everyone else’s, isn’t ready yet. But they’re getting there.
One more thing, check this out.

The above reminds me of the now-old classic, “What kind of hoax is this?” By the once memorable Amy Winehouse.
Try this for a big band experience. enjoy!
