Education financing is recognized as a key priority in the region, as it is essential to ensuring the right to education and advancing the Sustainable Development Goals. Although some countries have met international standards for education spending, challenges around equity and resource sufficiency remain, particularly at the pre-school level.
A ministerial meeting held in Santiago in January 2024 emphasized the need for inclusive and sustainable financing. To achieve this, the conference proposed prioritizing progressive fiscal reforms, promoting public-private partnerships, and mobilizing domestic and international resources. All funds invested in education are used efficiently and transparently, with a focus on maximizing the impact on learning.
This webinar will provide a platform for countries to share their experiences with education financing and the challenges they face in implementing sustainable policies. Additionally, experts from international organizations and civil society will discuss effective strategies to ensure the financial stability of the education sector in the medium and long term.
The conference is part of ongoing efforts to establish a regional framework to support the transformation of national education systems. This event aims to strengthen the commitment of Latin American and Caribbean governments to promote inclusive, equitable and quality education for all through the active participation of key stakeholders .
