
Hybrid Research Mentoring Program: Redesign
While designing and evaluating a hybrid research mentoring program for high school students, I discovered significant flaws in the traditional model. This means that students whose initial research proposals do not meet the required standards are simply removed from the process, usually without receiving clear, structured, and actionable feedback. This early exclusion not only crushed their motivation, but also deprived them of the opportunity to truly learn from their mistakes.
To fill this gap, I created a “Suggestion Revision Loop”. It is a feedback-driven iterative learning model rooted in David Kolb’s experiential learning cycle (1984). In Iran, the program was implemented under the local name ‘Second Chance Proposal Writing Course’. The results were amazing. This dramatically increased the rate at which students were able to re-enter major research courses and has since become a highly scalable and reproducible framework for research education in schools.
Why did we need a model?
An analysis of hundreds of rejected high school proposals reveals recurring and predictable weaknesses.
Failure to distinguish between general topics, research questions, and research questions Descriptive rather than analytical literature review, often lacking reliable sources Missing or disjointed methodology sections (population, sampling, instruments, validity/reliability) Non-academic tone and inappropriate or excessive use of generative AI
These problems weren’t just formatting errors. They reflect a lack of deep understanding of research logic. Rather than cutting students off, we built a short-lived, fully asynchronous intervention that targets exactly these pain points.
Proposal revision loop structure (3 days + finalization phase)

Why this is a commercially viable and scalable product

The proposal revision loop is no longer just a refresher course. This is a smart, science-based, humane educational product that proves that talent doesn’t need to be weeded out early. With one intelligent feedback loop, we can give every motivated student a real second chance and transform potential dropouts into talented young researchers. This model is now fully packaged, tested, and ready for branding, licensing, and widespread deployment across schools and online learning platforms.

From an EdTech perspective, Proposal Revision Loop is a high-impact microproduct that can be implemented quickly.
