Update: This article was updated after posting the results of Aron Alexander’s bond hearing on Friday.
Just weeks after being taken into federal custody, luxury goods broker Oren Alexander and his twin brother Aron Alexander are facing separate lawsuits alleging the brothers raped a minor in Aspen in 2017. There is.
According to the complaint filed Monday, the suit was brought by a Pennsylvania woman named Maylene Gehret, who said she ran into the twins at an Aspen bar in 2017 when she was 17 years old. Gehret was in town for that year’s Winter X Games. The brothers were 29 years old at the time.
When Gehret and two female friends entered the now-closed Bootsy Bellows Club in January 2017, Aron almost immediately walked into the party and grabbed him, Oren, and several others. He also encouraged other young people to come to the table, the complaint states. state.
After Aron learned Gehret’s age, Aron “told Maylen that he loved the fact that she was in high school and that he liked high school girls,” according to the complaint. The brothers then ordered drinks from the women, knowing they were minors, which Gehret believed were later laced with drugs.
As the evening progressed, Gehret “began to feel lightheaded and groggy,” according to the complaint. At one point, she allegedly put her head on Aron’s lap because she felt “heavy and cloudy,” and Aron told her to sit upright and “don’t be so dramatic.” He said he tried to distract her.
When it was time for the bar to close, the Alexanders began talking about an after-party in their room at the Little Nell Hotel, making it seem as if other people were attending. However, after the group arrived at the hotel via Uber, it became clear that no one else was coming. The brothers took the three women to their room, where they insisted they turn off the lights.
At that point, one of Gehret’s friends passed out, and Aron allegedly “digitally penetrated” Gehret on one of the beds in the room. He then took Gehret into the bathroom, where he locked the door and raped her. Afterward, Gehret said Aron forced her to take a shower.
Meanwhile, in the bedroom, Oren attempted to “digitally penetrate” and rape her friend, who was still conscious, but the friend fought him off and left the room, the complaint alleges. Oren turned his attention to his unconscious friend and began forcing his hand down his pants, when Gehret told him he was leaving.
Lawyers for the Alexander brothers did not respond to requests for comment.
The lawsuit is filed under the Colorado Child Sexual Abuse Liability Act, and the statute of limitations for plaintiffs expires on January 1, 2025, the complaint states. Gehret is seeking a jury trial and damages.
The case, which federal prosecutors have described as a “sex trafficking scheme,” spanned more than a decade, during which the brothers, along with their older brother Tal, seduced women to travel with them or have sex with them in private locations. After they met, he sexually assaulted her and sexually assaulted her. / Or raped them, sometimes with other men.
In December, Oren, Aron, and Tal were arrested by the FBI in Miami. They are currently being held in a federal detention center. The charges of sex trafficking and conspiracy to commit sex trafficking against them carry a minimum sentence of 15 years in prison. Oren and Aron were also charged by the state of Florida with sexual assault.
Tal was denied bail and was transferred to the Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn. A judge in Miami is expected to rule on bail for Oren and Aron on Friday after the brothers’ attorney suggested setting bail “in any amount” to allow them to be released on house arrest. Ta.
Alon’s request for bail was denied by Judge Eduardo Sanchez, who said Alon’s family ties posed a risk of flight to Israel. Judge Sanchez earlier said the family’s offer to surrender all their assets and property was not convincing as they were “not willing to do whatever it takes to avoid being sentenced.”
Mr Oren’s hearing was adjourned until Tuesday.
