Lesson #1: Daily Calendar Activities
That’s all: Every day there are new activities that keep students excited to read for a month. Themes include alphabet art (Gr. K-2), book cover design (Gr. 3-5), and genre speed dating (Gr. 6-8). I also got into trouble linking Read-Aloud videos and templates. It’s very easy!
Why kids like it: Your students look forward to the next fun reading activity. Additionally, there is a built-in time for stuffed toys for younger students and reading, as well as a reading and relaxation period for older children.
Don’t miss it: Alphabet Scavenger Hunt. It is recommended that you print this and send it home so that your children can continue the hunt with their families.
Lesson #2: Story Quest
That’s it: Story Quest is a great way to inspire students to spin-speeze stories, embark on a journey of imagination, and appreciate well-told stories. Each grade band has both a photo prompt and a story starter. Your students can choose to plant the story seeds in their minds. They do a quick wight without stopping, then have the opportunity to reflect and share.
Why do kids like it: All the photos are AI-generated, with a variety of things (a good mix of fantasy and realistic) and fun (mysterious rings in a bed of leaves! )is.
Don’t miss: Built-in Reflective Questions.
Lesson #3: Read the World
That’s all: embark on a global adventure through the book! “Visit” all seven continents using a curated book list. Students choose to read and listen to the book, then write a letter to a friend and tell them everything about it.
Why do kids like it: There are printable versions of all the books that students can glue to a world map.
Don’t miss: All books are read aloud online.
Lesson #4: STEM Reading
That it is all: This activity combines parts of literature with engineering challenges. Each grade band is linked to a book at the right level. Clicking each will display lesson plans using the link to read-laud and guide questions to use throughout the book. You will also get instructions on STEM challenges that are directly linked to ideas and content shared within the story.
Why kids like it: Book choices are really appealing and show students how literacy and engineering can live happily.
Don’t miss it: Preserve Potato Challenge. Students will learn how people all over the world store food.
