The housing market in Rochester is hot. Amazing 73% of homes exceeding April’s prices. The city also had the highest selling price rate in the country that month. In other words, buyers paid more regularly than the sellers originally listed their homes.
That momentum has not slowed down. Today, homes are on sale in just eight days, with only one month’s supply of housing on the market. This is well below the 4-5 months that are considered balanced.
This hasn’t always happened. Ten years ago, there was a supply of 7.3 months, and a typical home was on sale in 115 days. But when people moved in large numbers during the pandemic in search of affordable metros, Rochester became a hot spot. Today, Rust Belt City has been transformed into a big hip city.
However, with this popularity, home prices quickly rise. Median selling prices have not fallen annually in Rochester since September 2016. People are willing to spend the best dollars on Flower City homes.
According to Redfin data, Rochester had the most expensive home sales in May.
