New York, synonymous with grit and towering ambition, is kind of one. It’s no wonder billionaires gather in the area to acquire the world’s most expensive and exclusive property. Some buy NYC homes as investments, or Pieding Atale, while others are looking for a place to call the house.
Even if luxury sales fell nationwide, very Alkshley home sales are actually rising in New York. Those with abundant resources seem to be riding this wave of economic uncertainty.
But this wealth comes as New York deals with the wave of affordable prices and transfers. As of 2024, one in five households spent more than 50% of their income on housing, while over half of tenants spent more than 30%. The lack of new construction combined with stagnant wages remains a major culprit.
According to Redfin data, New York City had the most expensive home sales in May.
