Housing and Urban Development Minister Tokhan Sahu today spoke about the initiatives undertaken by Prime Minister Narendra Modi since he returned to power for a third consecutive term.
Addressing the NDTV real estate conference virtually, he said the first step taken by the Prime Minister Modi-led government was to approve the construction of 300 crore houses for the poor under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY). Ta.
2 billion houses will be given to poor people living in rural areas, while 1 billion will be given to people in urban areas, he said.
“This is the first time that the government is providing pucca houses to poor people,” Sahu said.
To achieve the goal of ‘Housing for All’ in rural areas, the Center launched the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana Gramin (PMAY) in 2016, which provides housing with basic amenities to the poor. -G) was launched.

Regarding the increase in real estate in metropolitan cities, he said it is happening as more people are migrating to urban areas for better facilities.
He also said bringing more high-rise buildings to smaller cities was a “government priority”.
“We will be able to accommodate more people in a smaller space,” Sahu said.
