The Community of Madrid is leading the Regional Innovation Valley Initiative for the Circular Economy, a European project to promote the circular economy funded by the Horizon Europe program with a budget of 22.8 million euros.
The European Commission and five other regions, Inlandet (Norway), Hauts-de-France (France), Brandenburg (Germany), Košice (Slovakia) and Kyiv (Ukraine), are co-financing the project and lasts for 5 years.
The official presentation was held at the Isabel II Canal with the participation of Cristina Menendez, General Director of Cooperation with States and the European Union. Cristina Aparicio, Director of Energy Transition and Circular Economy. Marina Pilar Villegas, Director of Research, Technology and Innovation, emphasized the importance of the circular economy for a more sustainable and innovative Europe.

Regional Innovation Valleys for Circular Economy aims to transform production, consumption and waste management processes to achieve more efficient and environmentally friendly models in participating regions.
