The Los Angeles mansion where late actress Brittany Murphy and her husband Simon Monjack died has long been a source of fascination and speculation. The property is now on the market again for $18 million, according to a report from Realtor.com.
In 2009, Murphy, known for his roles in Clueless and 8 Mile, tragically passed away in his home at the age of 32, just six years after the purchase. Five months later, Monjack also died at the mansion.

Murphy’s death was caused by pneumonia, anemia and overuse of prescription drugs, and Monjack’s death is believed to be due to similar causes.
The circumstances surrounding their deaths sparked many rumors, including speculation about mold and paranormal activity. But while the Los Angeles County Deputy Medical Examiner dismissed the mold theory, this haunting claim is open to interpretation.
Aside from Murphy and Monjack’s deaths, the house has an interesting history. Murphy bought it from pop princess Britney Spears in 2003 for $3.85 million.

Spears’ former makeup artist, Julian Kaye, appeared on the podcast “We Need to Talk About Britney” in 2021 and said that Spears fled her home because she believed “evil spirits” were trying to harm her. insisted.
“It was so bad. [Spears] left. She went to stay at the Casa del Mar hotel and never returned home,” Kay continued.
Monjack later claimed that Murphy considered the house “unfortunate” and had been making plans to move to New York before his untimely death. “She hated the house in Rising Glen,” he said in a 2011 interview with The Hollywood Reporter.
After Murphy and Monjack’s deaths, the property changed hands several times. It was sold at a $2.7 million deficit in 2011, and a few years later the original building was demolished and replaced with a modern 9,400-square-foot lot.
New properties sold for $14.53 million in 2017 and $12.2 million in 2020.
The current owners originally listed the home for $18.99 million in July 2023, but later took it off the market. It has now been relisted for $17.99 million.
This home on Rising Glen Road is located on a famous cul-de-sac in the Hollywood Hills. According to the listing, the home “has undergone a complete transformation and has emerged as a testament to luxury living and meticulous craftsmanship.”
Renovations include a newly redesigned exterior, redesigned chef’s kitchen, spacious restrooms, and a newly designed fitness studio and massage room wing.
Additional amenities include a spa with an 8-foot waterfall wall, a custom wet bar, a private screening room, and a wine closet. The home also features modern conveniences such as a laundry room on each floor, a four-car garage with mudroom access, and an elevator for easy access between floors.
For its next owner, this property promises to be more than a home, it’s a lifestyle.
