WALDORF, Md. – The Charles County Public Schools (CCPS) ELD/ESOL program held its second annual ELD/ESOL Community Night last week at John Hanson Middle School. ELD stands for English Language Development Program, formally known as the English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) Program.
The theme of the event was “Lights, Cameras, Education: Celebrating Global Cinema and Creativity.” Families of students participating in this program will dress up as their favorite celebrities and TV/movie characters, gather important resources from local community organizations, enjoy family-friendly activities, and enjoy family-friendly activities provided by Smallwood Drive Chick-fil-A You can eat your meal. More than 642 attendees entered Hanson’s red carpet, ushering in a night of entertainment and community.
“This is one of the largest international family events in the region,” said Jenny Herrera, CCPS bilingual family and community support facilitator. “Our goal is for families to learn about the wide variety of resources and services available within their community. We also enjoy spending time as a family and community, meeting with local dignitaries and English language development (ELD) teachers. can.”
