On a recent episode of my podcast, I had the pleasure of speaking with Kayla Callender, a highly successful mortgage professional from Fargo, North Dakota.
We bonded over our shared love of dogs and quickly entered into a rich discussion about how social media, collaboration, and genuine relationships are driving business growth in today’s real estate industry. .
Why real estate agents should watch this episode
If you’re looking to improve your business and connect with the right people, this podcast is for you. Calendar and I share how we’ve built successful careers by using social media to network, connect, and collaborate with like-minded professionals.
This episode is packed with practical insights on how to grow your business by leveraging social platforms and building authentic relationships with your clients and partners.
Here’s why you should pay attention:
Expand your network beyond geographic boundaries
Social media allows you to connect with people across the country (and abroad) who can help you level up. Calendar and I discuss how we’ve used platforms like Instagram to build meaningful, professional relationships that move our business forward.
prefer cooperation to competition
Although the real estate industry can often feel competitive, Callender emphasizes the importance of collaboration. By sharing resources, ideas and strategies with others in the industry, we can all grow together. In fact, Kallender and I regularly share videos, tips, and insights to help each other stay sharp and innovative.
Let’s borrow real power
Calendar and I also dig deep into the value of being authentic on social media. People are attracted to authentic people, so showing your true self will help you attract clients and partners who resonate with your values.
Key points to help your business grow
Don’t just post, participate
We talked about how engagement like likes, comments, and shares are more powerful than just posting. Engaging with other people’s content builds relationships and helps real estate agents and mortgage professionals keep you top of mind when they need you.
Educate with videos
Kallender shared a story about how I helped her improve her video editing and how video content can be transformative in educating clients and partners. By consistently appearing in valuable content such as reels, stories, and live videos, you can establish yourself as an expert in your field.
Build relationships with purpose
It’s not just about increasing the number of followers. We both emphasize the importance of building real and meaningful relationships with people in your network. Whether it’s sharing insights, providing support, or simply celebrating the successes of others, these relationships drive long-term business growth.
Practical tips for real estate agents
Be creative in asking for referrals: When meeting with your real estate agent partner, don’t just ask for referrals, be specific. Ask them to introduce you to 3-5 other real estate agents who are also passionate. This not only increases your chances of getting referrals, but also deepens your relationships with existing partners. Don’t be afraid to abandon your friends. As Calendar and I discussed, it’s okay to let go of friendships that no longer serve you in this season of your life. Focus on surrounding yourself with people who uplift you and help you grow personally and professionally. Personalize your approach: When connecting with new partners and clients, make it personal. Avoid the cookie-cutter approach of “let’s work together.” Instead, treat the other person with a genuine interest in their work and find ways to mutually benefit from the relationship.
This episode is a must-watch for real estate professionals looking to leverage the power of social media and authentic relationships to take their business to the next level.
