MARQUETTE, Mich. (WLUC) – A new award and celebration aims to highlight the hard work of small businesses in Marquette County.
The Mother, Studio Dance Arts and Up North Lodge are being recognized for their contributions to Marquette County.
Lake Superior Community Partnerships Small Business Support Specialist Lauren Rotundo said the opening of the West End Economic Hub was the impetus for these awards. She explained that the venue and catering for the awards ceremony will represent businesses that the Greater Ishpeming-Negaunee Area Chamber of Commerce has supported in the past.
“We’re spotlighting West End businesses with The Mother as our venue and caterers like Mama Russo’s, Midtown Bakery and Doozers all contributing,” Rotondo said. . “The Small Business Celebration is really about celebrating businesses across Marquette County.”
Each company represents the east, west and south sides of Marquette County. Up North Lodge General Manager Jesse Melchiorri says he couldn’t be more honored to represent the southern region of the county.
“We take great pride in our community and support and giving back,” Melchiorri said. “In addition to providing great food for anyone and everyone.”
Rotondo said community members recommended the businesses. She explained that candidates will then be reviewed based on their contributions and impact on the Marquette County economy.
“It’s really exciting for us to be able to give them a podium spot when these companies are celebrated and highlighted all night long,” Rotondo said.
The award ceremony will be held at The Mother on November 1st.
