In life, especially in our business, it’s easy to get caught up in the excitement of what others are doing. Peer pressure, or the pressure to follow the crowd, can be overwhelming. But the truth is: Greatness lies in carving your own path, not following the crowd.
One of my favorite quotes comes from the legendary Warren Buffett. “When people are greedy, be afraid. But when people are fearful, be greedy.” Buffett was talking about investing in the stock market, but I apply this wisdom to every aspect of life. It is applied.

When everyone else is panicking and fear is driving the masses, it’s time for you to step up and find opportunities that others are missing. When everyone is focused on “this new thing,” you should be looking for “the other thing.”
follow trends
In this industry (and probably most industries), it can sometimes feel like everyone is chasing the latest trends. The trend of trying to be the next big TikTok or YouTube star is spreading across social media. But the thing is, when everyone is zigging, you have to zig too.
While others are focusing their energy on posting across social media, it’s time to focus on proven efforts like email campaigns. Don’t follow the crowd. It’s much harder to stand out in a crowd of agents if you’re doing the same thing everyone else is doing. Instead, forge your own path.
Now, more than ever, this approach is essential. In the wake of last year’s NAR settlement scandal, many investigators are still scrambling to create rules and spread misinformation. It’s like a scene from Titanic. In a panic, people follow the crowd without thinking, but realize too late that it will lead to a catastrophe.
But just like in the movie, the survivors stayed focused, knew what to do, and weathered the chaos with clarity and purpose.
Don’t be distracted by the noise
So, remember here: don’t get sucked into the madness. Don’t follow those who are unprepared or lost. In this storm of uncertainty, you must be a lighthouse in the fog.
If the fog rolls in while you’re driving, you won’t be able to speed up, so you’ll slow down and be more careful. But now people are speeding up and making rash decisions out of fear and just wanting to escape the fog. don’t follow them. Be the steady light that guides others safely to shore.
Your customers, buyers and sellers, are confused. They have questions and need answers. They need you to lead them with confidence. You are their lighthouse in this storm. So stand firm, do not lose your way, and do not be dismayed.
You have this. In a world with a lot of followers, remember to be a leader. Forge your own path, stay focused, and most importantly, keep smiling.
